Pseudomonas chlororaphis
The active soil bacterium Pseudomonas chlororaphis
The soil bacteria Pseudomonas chlororaphis is the active micro-organism
in both Cedomon® and Cerall®. The bacterium has undergone meticulous
studies in accordance with the EU directive EEC 91/414. In October 2004,
the bacteria was approved for use within the EU and listed on Annex I. It
has not yet been determined exactly how the bacterium functions. It is believed
that several different factors affect the effective mechanisms. The effective
mechanisms involved can be briefly described according to the following:
Pseudomonas chlororaphis
• Competition for nutrients and space
• Growth stimulation
• Induced resistance (the plant’s own immune defences are strengthened)
• Antibiosis (secretion of biochemical products onto the seed in the
soil)
Stimulates growth
Cedomon® and Cerall® stimulate early development in the plants.
Recent studies indicate that the bacterium stimulates root growth. A good
start makes the plant viable and more resistant.
